Who I am

Hi! I’m Sarah - the face behind Sarah Chiu Decor.

I was born and raised in Mexico, which probably explains why I naturally lean toward bold colour and joyful design choices. I’ve now lived in Ottawa for almost 8 years, and while the winters were a shock at first, I’ve grown to really love this city and the people in it.

When I first moved here, I didn’t know anyone. But I came with a big dream and a deep passion for interior decor. Slowly, I built something from scratch. What started as a personal obsession turned into a career I absolutely love.

I believe that good design should reflect the people who live and use a space. My goal is to help you create something that feels right for you: functional, beautiful, and full of personality.

My Journey

  • Growing up

    Born and raised in Mexico City, my passion was always in the arts - making dresses for my barbie dolls and worrying more about creating the house in The Sims than on playing the game. I always knew I wanted to do something creative.

  • Education

    Algonquin College gave me the incredible opportunity to learn the necessary skills for this industry, as well as enhancing how to best communicate my ideas and encouraging me to think creatively.

  • Career

    I started my career at EQ3, working my way from Sales Assistant to Visual Coordinator while studying and after graduation. After that, I spent four years in the Kitchen and Bath Design industry, but eventually realized that custom cabinetry wasn’t where my passion truly lived. Joining The Reality Group as a Home Stager helped me reconnect with what I love most — decorating full spaces and creating environments that feel personal, intentional, and full of life.
